Creative programs that transform lives
Helen Catanchin

Helen Catanchin is Melbourne singer-songwriter, recording artist and performer under the moniker Katankin, and a graduate of Monash University, with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz voice) with Honours and a Master of Arts (Music Performance). She is an advocate for the power of music and communal singing to facilitate social connections, personal healing and mental and emotional wellbeing, with firsthand experience of these positive effects in her own life. Having been discouraged from the pursuit of music for much of her life, she is now a regular performer at events and festivals such as the Maldon Folk Festival. Her debut EP was nominated for Best Folk Work by Music Victoria, and her recent debut album has been nominated for Best Contemporary Folk Album at the Australian Folk Music Awards 2025.
Helen is passionate about making music and singing accessible to all members of the community, and allowing it to foster the joy and human connection that we all need and benefit so greatly from.
