Anthony Barnhill

One of Australia’s leading young musicians, Anthony Barnhill [A.Mus.A., L.Mus.A., B.Mus. B.Ed. (Hons)] is a versatile pianist, composer and conductor.

His performances have been described as ‘heroic’ (Wilma Smith, concertmaster MSO), ‘sensitive and intelligent’ (ArtsHub review), and displaying ‘incredible showmanship’ (Tina Arena). Anthony’s credits span radio, national television, and as guest soloist with symphony orchestras.

Anthony is widely sought after as a session pianist and accompanist. He has worked as pianist for Grammy nominated RnB artist Mario. Anthony works as an accompanist for the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, Monash University, and Opera Scholars Australia. He is musical director and pianist for ‘Australian Event Entertainers of the Year’ Pot-Pourri, conductor for Creativity Australia, and has served as musical director for the Australian International Opera Company’s 2016-2017 tour of China. Anthony has worked on over forty theatrical productions, including major professional musicals. He served as Composer in Residence for the international conference Creative Innovation Global 2016-2017.

Anthony studied at Monash University where he won numerous awards including the Anna Chmiel Memorial Piano Prize and the highly competitive Concerto Competition, while also achieving the university’s highest performance result in each year of study. Recently, Anthony was winner of the prestigious Rob Guest Endowment Musician Award.
