WOV St Kilda 2020/21
With One Voice St Kilda started 2020 like any other year. A choir songbook was compiled and attendance averaged about 30 with a strong core of regular members. Then along came Covid and we ventured online in March.
Daniel Brinsmead, our Artistic Director, ran weekly With One Voice live streaming sessions throughout 2020 keeping our tech-savvy St Kilda members and new followers from near and far singing together. Sessions were tailored to inspire, uplift and to counteract the uncertainty and anxiety and provided a connection point for our WOV community especially for those feeling isolated. WOV St Kilda members also remained connected through phone calls, emails, and live stream chats. We held several Zoom catch-ups learning a lot about each other and even meeting pets and family. We discovered writers, artists, bike riders and ukulele players in our choir and our attempts to sing together on Zoom provided some much-needed laughter.
We are grateful to the WOV Head Office team who have been incredibly positive and supportive through a difficult year. We would also like to thank WOV founder, Tania de Jong AM, for her support of the livestream schedule throughout 2020. The choir look forward to expanding its member base in 2021 and continuing to provide an inclusive and supportive choral community.
St Kilda Sing for Good EntryOctober 26, 2016
Hey everyone check out the St Kilda Sing for Good entry.
With One Voice St Kilda is one of Creativity Australia’s social wellbeing and inclusion choirs. We may all come from different walks of life, but singing and a love of music brings us together every Monday evening. We enjoy singing a range of songs, and the welcoming community of our special choir. This particular song was a crowd favourite in our recent Acland Street performances!
With One Voice St Kilda performs at Tobin Brothers Art for the Heart Exhibition OpeningMay 19, 2016
With One Voice St Kilda were proud to perform once again at Parliament House, for the opening of The Tobin Brothers Art For the Heart Exhibition.
Art for the Heart is an art exhibition held by Tobin Brothers Funerals that honours the use of creativity as a powerful source of healing and expression during the process of grief. It offers a space for people to tell their stories of loss, love & hope in new ways and to bring the community together to share the often hidden experiences of grief and depression. Many of the artworks were donated for auction to raise money for The Compassionate Friends Victoria.
