Did you know that singing changes your brain?

“I’m a member of the Geelong WOV choir and it is the best thing I have ever done for my well being peace of mind. Go and sing and it is like a pep pill you feel so good afterward. I love it.” – Patricia W

“The With One Voice Geelong Choir were an amazing addition to our IDPwD event at the NDIA National Office. The staff had nothing but wonderful feedback about the choir’s performance – it was heart-warming, uplifting and we loved seeing how much fun the choir had singing together. We look forward to having the choir involved in more events in the future!”Leah Mathison, National Disability Insurance Agency

WOV Geelong Performance Testimonial:

“The performance was OUTSTANDING! The choir sounded beautiful and added a whole other level to our event. We are so grateful to all the choristers who made an effort be there. Very special mention to Kym! Her energy, enthusiasm and love of what she does is unmistakable and infectious! We were also incredibly touched by the words spoken between songs. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, nor a still body during the performance.

Please pass on our sincere thanks to the entire crew; we thanked (and hugged!) many of them on the night but would love to know that each and every one of them knows how deeply appreciative of their wonderful singing we are.”

Emily Dalton – NDIS Geelong. September 2019.

WOV Geelong 2020/21

What an interesting year 2020 was. Not to be outdone by a pandemic, our conductor Kym
Dillon kept three choirs running with a combined weekly online rehearsal via YouTube. Through
the chat medium, we were able to connect with members of Ashburton and Altona Meadows
choirs. A highlight was a collaboration of all three choirs on a production for the online Humans
In Geelong Expo. We performed “Hope Springs”, written by Carl Dickens, WOV Geelong
member – a song much loved by our choir.

Weeknight Facebook sessions with other With One Voice conductors were an added bonus.
Well done, team! Many choir members have commented on what a life-line these choir
connections were, particularly for those isolated from friends and family.

Still hampered by restrictions, our return on-site took us out of doors in the Eastern Gardens in
December, then in the Geelong Botanical Gardens in February, where galahs, cockatoos and
magpies joined our chorus.

Now happily back in our old home of Wesley Uniting Church, we may have lost a few members
over the journey, but have gained many more. New faces come through the door each week.
Our current attendance is in the 70s, which matches that of previous times. The choir vibe
is alive and well in Geelong. A huge thank you to Kym for her dedication to the task, positive
approach to new challenges and the prodigious talent which she shares with us so generously.
WOV Geelong would like to thank Barwon Health for their ongoing and generous support.

Geelong Sing for Good Entry

Hey everyone check out the Geelong Sing for Good entry.

With Once Voice Geelong is about so much more than singing. While singing is what brought us all together, the friendships and sense of belonging it generates is what matters most. Joining a community choir is a great way to break down barriers and connect with the community. We welcome everyone, regardless of singing ability. You just have to look at our Sing For Good entry to see how much fun we have.
