Singing Together for Better Health
There is significant evidence that people singing together instills change in the brain, promotes general health and well-being benefits, and creates a sense of community strength and feeling of inclusion. In recent years there has been an increasing amount of evidence about the health benefits of singing, both from a physiological and mental health perspective.
So with this in mind, UFS launched their own the With One Voice choir in Ballarat on Wednesday 15 May 2019 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. They are honoured to have the delightful Suzanne Hobson join them as Choir Conductor.

WOV Ballarat 2020/21
With One Voice Ballarat emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic in early December 2020 with weekly rehearsals recommencing in a new venue – at a rotunda on beautiful Lake Wendouree in Ballarat. This outdoor venue allowed members to maintain their social distance yet reconnect with each other on a regular basis. Even the infamous Ballarat weather was kind.
Participant numbers are back to pre-COVID levels as longstanding members return and new members join. Rehearsals have now moved to a larger indoor venue to allow for continued growth and with the support of UFS Dispensaries and Conductor Suzanne Hobson, a volunteer Committee has been formed. WOV Ballarat performed at their first event for the year in April, at “Walking off the War Within” – a fundraiser that aims to end the stigma associated with mental health. We have a number of other events booked in the coming year. We are delighted to see the choir moving ahead again in such a positive way.
