Sydney Sings: WOBV and Martin Place gigs, Mission Australia and more!
August 23, 2013
Hello All Sydney Singers,
Well, you are all troopers!
Those going down to Melbourne, and those who aren’t this year… Thank you all for your patience and great spirit as always. The choir sounds great, and I hope you are all enjoying learning the WOBV songs regardless if you are going down or not.
For Melbourne people, if this applies to you, by now, you should all be on transfer lists to/from stations/airports, have your accommodation, tickets, t-shirts and be on the singers list. (if you aren’t please let me know ASAP!)
We have only 3 rehearsals to go!
AND THEN, we have one of OUR SYDNEY SINGS! big concerts in Martin Place on TUESDAY 15th October for a 20-30min concert. We already have about 30 singers signed up already for this one, and if you are NOT already on the list (at the DOOR), then please add your name! It will be great… singing songs we know and love to fellow Sydney-siders in their lunch hour!
From what I understand, some of you will be able to just sing from outside your office windows! I am really looking forward to this one. It is of course for Carers’ Week – to celebrate the wonderful work that people caring for others do. What better reason to sing I say!
Would love to hear some of your carers stories- if you have been a carer, or needed special care at some time in your life. It is such a special, vital and important thing to do and/or receive, and also to be aware of in our society.
So I am really proud that Sydney Sings has been asked to be a part of the celebrations for it. I am sure you are too.
Also, if you weren’t there last week, I will re-introduce Kane again… As of a month ago, Mission Australia and Creativity Australia have a partnership now, and part of this partnership is that we will always have one case worker with us for rehearsals to offer his expertise and be available for everyone.
I introduced Kane last week, and you may have noticed him at rehearsals. Please feel free to go up and introduce yourselves to Kane, and make him welcome. He is very happy to be a part of the choir. I am personally very grateful to have someone from Mission Australia in our choir too.
Thank you all again for your ongoing and endless enthusiasm, patience and compassion. Thank you also for so many of your who bring your friends with you to rehearsals. This is just wonderful.
Have fun singing your songs in the shower/car/office/walking in the park.. where else do you sing your songs?
See you all Tuesday.
Altos sectional afterwards!
