The With One Voice choirs are kicking off for 2014 this week, so wear a smile, bring a friend and get ready to sing your heart out!

With One Voice Footscray – Start Date

Dear Footscray participants

Just a note to remind you that With One Voice Footscray recommences for 2014 on Thursday 13 February – one week later than the rest of our choirs, due to another event at the Footscray Community Arts Centre.

Jolene is looking forward to filling in for Bridget while she’s on maternity leave!

With One Voice Melbourne – Venue Information

Dear participants

With One Voice Melbourne starts up for 2014 tomorrow! We can’t wait to sing with you.

IMPORTANT: there are a few dates coming up on which the Sofitel is unavailable for our rehearsals. So on Tuesday 11 February and Tuesday 18 February we will be rehearsing at Bourke Place – 600 Bourke Street, Melbourne. Some of you will remember this building from our recent Christmas Carols gig.

It’s a great venue, and there’ll be songs and supper as usual, so please come along and help spread the word to your fellow participants.

Australia Day gigs

Dear With One Voice choirs

Happy New Year from the team at Creativity Australia! We hope you have had a wonderful festive season.

Most choirs will recommence for 2014 in the first week of February, except for Footscray Sings, which will start in the second week.

GIGS ON AUSTRALIA DAY

Please join us for TWO AMAZING PERFORMANCES on AUSTRALIA DAY, Sunday 26 January 2014. This is an opportunity for us to unite the entire Victorian With One Voice singing community to celebrate!

10:15am All participants must gather back at assembly point for marshalling
10.30am All quiet for flag-raising ceremony
11am-12pm Australia Day Parade

The Parade will finish at the Queen Victoria Gardens/Kings Domain where you can meet friends/family and join in the celebrations. The main stage will entertainment all day, including jazz musician James Morrison, so there will be plenty to do until you need to meet up at 1:00pm.

2. RACV SOUNDS OF AUSTRALIA CONCERT

Queen Victoria Gardens

1pm Meet at side of community performance stage for brief rehearsal
1.35pm-2.10pm PerformanceNote: There will be a manned dressing room near the stage where you can leave your gear during the performance.

Essential information:

  • This special event is a very long day.
  • You must be prepared to cope with crowds, weather and lots of standing/walking. Bring a smile and oodles of patience.
  • Imagine how hard it is to get a huge group of people to march and sing together! Please listen very carefully to Kym and the CA team – with your help, the day will run like clockwork.
  • All participants must bring: a bottle of water, sunscreen and hat. Do not bring valuables or large bags.
  • Please wear black and your With One Voice t-shirt.

Participant Survey & Festive Wishes

Dear With One Voice choirs

Thank you for your heartfelt participation in the With One Voice program during 2013!

We’ve had a wonderful year and we look forward to a joyous 2014 – when we’ll launch new programs in Altona Meadows, Redfern (NSW) and Brisbane.

To continue and improve our programs, and ensure they are open to all people, we appreciate your continued support. If you can donate to sponsor someone in need (we subsidise 73% of participants), bring a friend or simply spread the word… you are playing an essential role in the development of one of Australia’s top social innovations.

Let’s work together to empower individuals and build supportive communities nationwide in 2014 and beyond!

PARTICIPANT SURVEY
This year, we invited you to take part in a comprehensive Participant Survey. The results have been carefully collated and your valuable feedback will continue to inform improvements to our program, repertoire, resources, performances and more.

Here’s a quick snapshot of key findings:

  • 99% love their conductors (we do too!)
  • 97% say choir is a great way to de-stress
  • 94% of participants are proud to be a member of the program
  • 91% say they always feel better about their day after choir
  • 86% Say the program is a great way to bond with colleagues, friends or family

Around half of you are also keen to take part in more performances, especially joint choir performances – so we’ll be directing more energy into this next year.

If you know of a great local event we could take part in, please let us know!

I WISH
